Nikolas Bezanis Donation

Maira

George Mougolias Memorial Fund has made a generous donation to the initiative titled "Help Welcome Nikolas Home." This initiative is focused on supporting Nikolas, affectionately known as Niko, who is the eldest of three children in the Bezanis family. Niko’s life took a devastating turn when he dove off a boat, and struck a hidden sand bar, resulting in a severe spinal injury that left him paralyzed. This unforeseen incident has not only altered the course of Niko's life but has also presented the Bezanis family with a multitude of challenges that they are now forced to confront. In the aftermath of this life-altering event, the family is grappling with the emotional and financial ramifications that accompany such a tragedy. Among the most pressing issues they face is the threat of eviction from their beloved family home.

They have received invaluable assistance from a pro-bono attorney affiliated with the Chicago-based Center for Disability and Elder Law. This dedicated legal professional is working tirelessly to negotiate with the property owners on behalf of the family, aiming to secure a deal that would allow them to purchase their home and ensure that they can remain in a familiar and supportive environment. This ongoing legal battle not only highlights the complexities of their situation but also serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Bezanis family. They are committed to fighting for their home and for Niko's well-being, demonstrating an unwavering spirit as they navigate this challenging chapter of their lives.

The community's support, including the contributions from the George Mougolias Memorial Fund, plays a crucial role in helping them maintain stability and hope as they work towards a brighter future for Niko and the entire family.
